Interest rate

Interest rate is the amount charged, expressed as a percentage of principal, by a lender to a borrower for the use of assets. For january of 2017 the interest rate is given in 7,5% by the republic bank.

When the interest rate rises, the cost of credit necessarily rises, making it difficult for the business sector to finance investments.

When interest rates decrease, the cost of loans decreases, so financing investments is attractive, contributing to increased production and employment.

As the interest rate had been growing in the past months this reduction shows a stabilization for the rate, which could mean future propensity of people ask for loans.
