Attitudes toward saving

“Tending or serving to save; rescuing; preserving.” (dictionary.com)

Colombians are saving, and most of them on a voluntary basis, according to firms such as  Sura Asset Management and Merlin Research, which unveiled a survey that looked at 12,000 people not only in Colombia but in five other Latin American nations.

The results indicate that, although 7 out of 10 Colombians save voluntarily, this habit places them in the third place among this group of countries, where Peruvians have the highest level of saving, 74 percent, followed by Mexicans, 73 percent.

The Colombians are among the most conscious of the responsibility to build pension savings, after Chileans, while women are the most influential in saving behavior of families, with 46 percent, the most high among the six Latin American countries that participated in the study.
